Overview
The Role Client Leadership
We are looking for an Account Director to lead senior client relationships and play a pivotal role in shaping standout, creative earned and influencer work within our PR & Partnerships team. This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone who thrives on ideas, understands how creativity travels through media and culture, and knows how to turn that into real business impact. You will sit at the intersection of clients, creativity and culture, acting as a strategic partner to brands and a creative leader within the agency. You will inspire teams, push ideas further, and ensure Iris delivers work that earns attention, conversation and fame.
Responsibilities
- Be the senior, trusted voice for clients, owning relationships at a strategic level and acting as a confident creative counsellor.
- Lead key areas of the client business, shaping the earned and influencer vision and ensuring work ladders up to wider brand and business objectives.
- Challenge briefs where needed and push clients towards braver, more impactful creative thinking.
- Champion big, bold, earned-first ideas, proactively bringing culturally relevant opportunities to clients.
- Work closely with Iris creative, social and strategy teams to develop ideas that are designed to travel through media, talent and culture.
- Play a key role in creative development, from early idea generation through to execution and amplification.
- Ensure creative work is distinctive, on-brand and worthy of attention — never just 'doing PR'.
- Create media strategies, lead media sell-ins, taking responsibility for results.
- Demonstrate a creative approach to media relations, coming up with new stories/angles.
- Lead relationships with talent and influencer agents, ensuring that we are at the forefront of pairing talent with our brands.
- Take ownership of the commercial health of your accounts, including budgets, forecasting, resourcing and profitability.
- Identify opportunities for organic growth, expanded scopes and creative partnerships.
- Contribute to new business, helping shape compelling, creatively ambitious and commercially sound pitches.
- Lead, inspire and develop Account Managers and Executives, fostering a culture of creativity, confidence and high performance.
- Set clear expectations, support prioritisation and encourage teams to think bigger and more creatively.
- Act as a role model for Iris values and creative ambition.
- Oversee and elevate all written outputs, from creative briefs and press materials to pitch decks and strategic narratives.
- Ensure reporting tells a clear, compelling story: not just what we did, but why it mattered.
- Use insight and results to fuel smarter, braver creative thinking.
- Take responsibility for developing regular, proactive creative ideas for retained and project-based accounts.
What We Are Looking For
- Deep understanding of media, talent, creators and culture.
- A confident client counsellor who can sell creative ideas and build trust at a senior level.
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets and growing accounts.
- Someone who instinctively thinks ideas-first, not channel-first.
- A natural collaborator who thrives in an integrated, creatively led agency environment.
- Someone endlessly curious about the world, culture and creativity.
- Experience working with alcohol or consumer electronics brands would be a bonus.
