We're a Great Place to Work® certified employer, recognised for our commitment to well-being, inclusion and development - and we're growing fast.
We’re looking for a Reporting Services Team Lead to lead our team of Reporting Services Developers supporting the iSAMS and Ed education software products. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with experience across SSRS, SQL/T-SQL, Power BI and reporting, who also has experience leading, mentoring or developing others. You’ll lead a team of around seven developers across the UK and India, providing technical direction, managing priorities and helping your team deliver accurate, reliable reporting solutions for our customers.
Why This Role Matters
Schools rely on data to understand what is happening across their organisations and make informed decisions. Our Reporting Services team turns that data into useful reports and insights for customers using iSAMS and Ed. As Team Lead, you’ll make sure those reporting solutions are accurate, consistent and useful, while helping us improve our reporting technology, processes and ways of working.
About the Team You'll Join
You’ll lead around seven Reporting Services Developers across the UK and India, working with technologies including:
- Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
- SQL / T-SQL
- Power BI
You’ll also work closely with colleagues across Product Management, Engineering and Customer Success to understand requirements and agree reporting priorities.
What You'll Be Doing
As Reporting Services Team Lead, you’ll:
- Lead, support and develop the Reporting Services team, setting clear objectives and helping people grow.
- Manage workloads, priorities and delivery timelines.
- Oversee the design and delivery of reports and analytics solutions across iSAMS and Ed.
- Set and maintain technical standards across SSRS, SQL, Power BI and reporting development.
- Provide technical guidance around SQL/T-SQL, report development, data modelling and troubleshooting.
- Act as an escalation point for complex reporting, data and customer issues.
- Work with Product Management and other stakeholders to understand requirements and agree priorities.
- Make sure reporting solutions are accurate, consistent and delivered to a high standard.
- Identify and lead improvements to our reporting tools, processes and ways of working.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous development across the team.
- Represent Reporting Services in stakeholder meetings and wider business initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
We’re particularly interested in people who have:
- Hands-on experience creating reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- Strong SQL / T-SQL skills, including writing more complex queries.
- Experience using Power BI.
- Experience leading, managing or mentoring people within reporting, BI, data, development or a similar technical environment.
- A good understanding of data modelling, reporting and analytics.
- Experience investigating and resolving complex reporting or data issues.
- The technical confidence to guide and support other developers.
- Experience managing workloads, competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience gathering requirements and turning them into effective reporting solutions.
- Experience working with customers, Product teams or other stakeholders.
- The ability to explain technical information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Good organisation, communication and problem-solving skills.
You don’t need previous experience with iSAMS, Ed or the education sector. If you have a solid reporting background and experience supporting or leading other technical people, we’d encourage you to apply.
What You’ll Gain
This is an opportunity to:
- Lead and develop a technical reporting team across multiple locations.
- Remain close to SSRS, SQL and Power BI while developing your leadership experience.
- Influence how reporting services and technology develop across iSAMS and Ed.
- Work closely with Product, Engineering and Customer Success.
- Lead improvements that directly affect the reporting experience we provide to customers.
- Continue developing your career within an international software business.
What Can You Expect From Our Application Process?
We like to keep things simple, transparent and fair:
- Apply online: Upload your CV and tell us why you’re interested in the role.
- Initial Interview + Online Assessments: You’ll complete two short online assessments, unless completed with IRIS within the last 12 months, followed by a conversation with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners. The CCAT is a 15-minute timed assessment, while the EPP is untimed and can be completed at your own pace.
- Stage One Interview: You’ll have a competency-based interview with our Product Management Team Lead and another colleague, exploring your leadership experience, technical reporting knowledge and approach to developing a successful team.
If you have experience across SSRS, SQL/T-SQL and reporting or BI, enjoy helping technical people develop and are ready to take ownership of a reporting team, we’d love to hear from you.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Impact: Your work will influence millions globally.
- Growth: Continuous learning and career development opportunities.
- Belonging: A culture that celebrates diversity and empowers every individual.
