Our payroll software is trusted by thousands of employers across the UK - and when new customers join us, getting them set up properly matters. We’re now hiring an Implementation Consultant to help clients move onto our payroll systems smoothly, confidently, and compliantly. This role is ideal for someone with payroll experience who enjoys working with people, systems, and structured projects - and wants to move away from day‑to‑day payroll processing into payroll software, onboarding, and client delivery.
As an Implementation Consultant, you’ll guide new customers through the process of moving onto our payroll software. You’ll be the person who:
- Sets up their payroll system correctly
- Moves their data safely and accurately
- Explains how everything works in plain English
- Makes sure they feel confident using the system before go‑live
You’ll manage several client implementations at once, keeping things organised, calm, and on track.
Why This Role Matters
- Payroll is business‑critical. If implementation goes wrong, clients feel it immediately.
- Clients start using our software with confidence
- Payroll is accurate and compliant from day one
- Risks and errors are avoided during transition
- Clients trust IRIS as a long‑term partner
You’ll have real ownership and visible impact on every project you deliver.
About the Team You’ll Join
You’ll join a friendly, supportive team of around 10 Implementation Consultants, working closely with Implementation Managers and payroll specialists. Collaboration, shared knowledge, and clear processes are central to how the team works.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Client Onboarding & Projects
- Lead onboarding and scoping calls with new clients
- Understand how each client runs payroll and document requirements
- Plan and manage implementation timelines
- Keep projects moving and communicate clearly with clients
- Payroll System Setup
- Configure payroll systems to match client needs
- Support data migration and validation
- Test setups to ensure everything works correctly
- Training & Go‑Live
- Train clients on how to use the payroll system
- Answer questions clearly and patiently
- Hand clients over confidently once live
- Documentation & Support
- Keep onboarding and payroll documentation up to date
- Support colleagues and share knowledge within the team
- Stay up to date with UK payroll legislation
- Learn new system features and improvements
- Work towards clear performance goals
What We’re Looking For
This role will suit you if you have:
- Payroll experience (bureau, in‑house, or payroll services)
- A good understanding of UK payroll rules and processes
- Experience using payroll software
- Clear, professional communication skills
- A calm, organised approach — even under pressure
- Strong attention to detail, especially with data
Experience in payroll software implementation or client onboarding is welcome, but not essential - full training and support are provided.
What You’ll Gain
- A clear move into payroll software implementation
- Hands‑on experience with system setup and data migration
- Ownership of meaningful client projects
- Support, training, and development from experienced colleagues
- Career progression within a well‑established UK software business
