We are recruiting a Salaried GP for 4 - 8 sessions to join one of East Birmingham's largest and well-established GP surgeries. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a stable, well-organised practice with a strong teaching culture, a large multidisciplinary team, and a modern digital workflow that supports sustainable and flexible working in general practice.

About Us

The practice hosts foundation trainees and Birmingham Medical School students, with opportunities for GPs to develop as trainers or educators. Our team includes 17 GPs, 2 PAs, 3 First Contact Physios, 1 Paramedic, 1 Diabetes Specialist Nurse, 3 Registered Nurses, 5 HCAs, and an in-house Pharmacy Team supporting prescribing and medication workload.

Job Summary

The postholder will provide high quality, patient-centred clinical care within one of East Birmingham's largest and well-established GP practices. The role includes routine clinical sessions, duty triage, telephone and face-to-face consultations, and participation in the practice’s strong teaching and training programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical care to patients in line with GMC and RCGP standards
  • Undertake a mix of telephone, face-to-face and triage consultations
  • Manage acute, chronic, and preventive care needs
  • Support duty doctor sessions as part of the clinical rota
  • Review pathology results, documents and correspondence (supported by digital automation tools)
  • Contribute to clinical meetings, MDT discussions and practice development
  • Participate in teaching and supervision of foundation trainees and medical students
  • Engage in CPD, appraisal and revalidation activities
  • Work collaboratively with the wider MDT, including pharmacy, nursing, PA, FCP and paramedic teams
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical records using EMIS and Docman

Working Pattern

4-8 sessions per week with flexible working arrangements available.

Foundation trainees and Birmingham Medical School students. We support GPs wishing to develop as:

  • Educational Supervisors
  • Clinical Supervisors
  • Undergraduate teachers

Support Structure

Experienced Duty GP available throughout the day for advice and support. Our team includes:

  • 17 GPs
  • 3 First Contact Physiotherapists
  • 1 Paramedic
  • 1 Diabetes Specialist Nurse
  • 3 Registered Nurses
  • 5 HCAs
  • A large in-house Pharmacy Team with Duty Pharmacist available daily
  • Experienced reception and admin teams including nominated Duty receptionists

Person Specification

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage a broad range of acute and chronic conditions
  • Experience with telephone and face-to-face consultations
  • Experience supervising trainees or medical students
  • Experience working in a large multidisciplinary team
