An opportunity has arisen for the position of a Practice Finance & Business Assistant (up to 37.5 hours per week) to join our experienced team. We are looking for someone who is motivated, conscientious, flexible and has excellent communication skills, with strong attention to detail and confidence working with financial systems. NHS experience is beneficial but not essential. The successful candidate must be highly self‑motivated, organised and able to manage competing priorities. Training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
- Finance & Business Support: Basic finance administration – processing invoices and purchase orders, maintaining simple spreadsheets, supporting budget monitoring as directed. Liaise with suppliers regarding routine queries. Support payroll and accounting processes by preparing information for external accountants (no decision‑making responsibility).
- Governance & Practice Support: Practice governance processes – saving and organising meeting minutes on the GP TeamNet portal, maintaining document version control, ensuring governance documents are stored correctly and accessibly. Assist with preparing papers for meetings.
- Administrative & Operational Support: General administrative support across the practice. Organise logistics for meetings: booking rooms, arranging refreshments and lunches. Carry out ad‑hoc tasks to support the wider team. Act as a point of contact for internal administrative queries.

- Experience in an administrative or office support role.
- Basic understanding of finance or accounts administration.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) confidently.
- Ability to follow procedures and work under supervision.
- Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications – Essential
