  • Overview

We are supporting a large, well-established UK organisation in the search for an experienced Application Support Lead to take ownership of the support and continuous improvement of its HR & Payroll application landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day support of HR & Payroll applications, ensuring incidents, service requests and problems are managed effectively in line with agreed SLAs.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to Application Analysts, acting as the senior escalation point for complex application issues.
  • Work closely with HR and Payroll stakeholders to ensure systems continue to meet operational and statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate application upgrades, patches and annual legislative updates across the HR & Payroll estate.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing functionality and support the delivery of enhancements and system changes.
  • Carry out root cause analysis, trend identification and proactive problem management to improve system performance and stability.
  • Liaise with third-party support partners and vendors to manage incidents, fixes and future product roadmaps.
  • Maintain accurate system documentation, support processes and operational procedures.
  • Represent the HR & Payroll application function within wider IT and business forums, ensuring effective stakeholder communication throughout.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience supporting Oracle E-Business Suite HR & Payroll applications, ideally within an Oracle R12 environment.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle HR, Payroll, OTL, SSHR and associated modules.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Reports, forms customisation, SQL and PL/SQL troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting payroll processing, statutory updates and other business-critical HR system activities.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle customisations, CEMLIs, workflows, flexfields and concurrent programs.
  • Previous experience leading an application support team or acting as the senior technical escalation point within a support function.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex cross-functional issues.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across both technical and business teams.
  • Experience supporting additional HR technologies such as Kronos or Talentlink would be advantageous.
