iRecruit4 are currently seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Catering Assistant to support our client in selling their freshly made products at local markets and community events EVERY SATURDAY. This role involves representing the brand at markets, engaging with customers, promoting products, and building a strong presence within local towns and communities. It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys customer interaction, working independently, and being part of a growing business.
Hours, Pay & Benefits for Catering Assistant:
- Pay: £13.20 per hour
- Day: Saturdays only
- If someone is looking for additional hours, there may be opportunities to increase working days over time as the business grows
- Market locations vary; a full UK driving licence is required
- Travel will not exceed approximately 1 hour 15 minutes
- Markets are typically held across areas such as Bristol, Reading, Cirencester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Winchester, Newbury, and surrounding locations
- Training provided in food safety and product knowledge
- Opportunity to work at a variety of busy markets and community events
Key Duties for Catering Assistant:
- Set up and operate the market stall at various locations, including unloading equipment and preparing displays
- Promote and sell products while delivering excellent customer service
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately and securely
- Reconcile takings, issue receipts, and follow company procedures for returning all cash and payments
- Represent the brand professionally within local communities
- Collect the company van, market equipment, and products before travelling to market locations
- Carry out basic checks on the van before loading and ensure it is clean and presentable
- Identify potential business opportunities or customer leads and report them to management
- Participate in promotional activities and marketing events when required
- Provide feedback after each market including: Sales and wastage, Customer feedback
- Return equipment, remaining stock, and the van to the unit after markets
- Clean trays, tools, and equipment used and leave the workspace tidy
Requirements for Catering Assistant:
- Previous sales experience (desirable)
- Experience in customer service or a customer-facing role
- Full UK driving licence is essential
- Experience handling cash and card payments is preferred
- Food Safety Level 2 and Allergens Training (desirable but can be provided)
- Confident communicating with customers and promoting products
- Reliable, organised, and able to work independently
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
