iRecruit4 are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a specialist healthcare and medical consumables manufacturer in Swindon. The company operates in a highly regulated environment where quality, compliance, and efficiency are critical.
The Maintenance Engineer will maintain, repair, and improve production equipment and machinery. We are looking for someone with a strong 50/50 electrical and mechanical background who works independently, takes ownership, and proactively supports production to enhance equipment performance and site efficiency. This is a highly autonomous role within a small team, so the successful candidate must integrate quickly, confidently engage with operators, and independently manage maintenance and continuous improvement activities.
Salary & Benefits:
- £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs
- Identify opportunities for improvement across equipment and processes
- Preventative and reactive maintenance on production machinery
- Reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency
- Support production teams with technical expertise
- Engage with operators to identify improvement opportunities
- Ensure compliance within a regulated manufacturing environment
- Work independently while knowing when to seek support
- Manage Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules, spares, and documentation
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and safety culture
Requirements:
- 18th Edition qualification and IOSH certification
- Demonstrated experience creating and managing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Experience with PLC installation, commissioning, and fault finding
- Experience working with industrial robots, including Kuka Robotics
- Understanding of Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)
- Experience with automated production or material processing equipment and industrial control systems (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, Profinet/ProfiSafe, Sick Safety PLCs)
Desirable (Not Essential):
- Experience with heat welding
- Experience with radio frequency (RF) welding
- Experience working in an autonomous environment but knowing when to ask for support when needed
