iRecruit4 are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a specialist healthcare and medical consumables manufacturer in Swindon. The company operates in a highly regulated environment where quality, compliance, and efficiency are critical.

The Maintenance Engineer will maintain, repair, and improve production equipment and machinery. We are looking for someone with a strong 50/50 electrical and mechanical background who works independently, takes ownership, and proactively supports production to enhance equipment performance and site efficiency. This is a highly autonomous role within a small team, so the successful candidate must integrate quickly, confidently engage with operators, and independently manage maintenance and continuous improvement activities.

Salary & Benefits:

  • £45,000 - £50,000 per annum (Depending on Experience)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding and repairs
  • Identify opportunities for improvement across equipment and processes
  • Preventative and reactive maintenance on production machinery
  • Reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency
  • Support production teams with technical expertise
  • Engage with operators to identify improvement opportunities
  • Ensure compliance within a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Work independently while knowing when to seek support
  • Manage Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules, spares, and documentation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and safety culture

Requirements:

  • 18th Edition qualification and IOSH certification
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules
  • Experience with PLC installation, commissioning, and fault finding
  • Experience working with industrial robots, including Kuka Robotics
  • Understanding of Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR)
  • Experience with automated production or material processing equipment and industrial control systems (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, Profinet/ProfiSafe, Sick Safety PLCs)

Desirable (Not Essential):

  • Experience with heat welding
  • Experience with radio frequency (RF) welding
  • Experience working in an autonomous environment but knowing when to ask for support when needed
