Job Purpose

In this role you will lead legal support for Infra Red’s investment funds, separate accounts, and corporate structures.

It will be the lead corporate lawyer providing day‑to‑day support for the fund development and capital‑raising functions of the Infra Red business.

This role acts as the first point of contact on corporate‑ and product‑focused legal matters for the Infra Red Group, working to ensure that the business is able to develop and execute on its strategy.

You will contribute to define the long‑term business strategy, identifying and mitigating future legal risks associated with expansion and new product launches.

This role may evolve depending on the incumbent’s ability to think commercially to help identify/execute the business needs during the fund‑raising process.

You will report to the General Counsel of the Real Assets division of SLC Management.

  • Advise investment committees and senior management on legal matters.
  • Promote the values of the Infra Red Group, leading by example and holding yourself and others accountable.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on fund formation, offering mechanics, and managing complex investor side‑letter negotiations to ensure consistency and mitigate risks related to preferential treatment.
  • Provide legal support for carried interest and co‑investment structures, and separately managed accounts.
  • Challenge and support the structuring and negotiation of commercial deals, M&A activity, and strategic partnerships, balancing legal risk with pragmatic business objectives.
  • Drive the automation of routine legal workflows and implement AI‑powered solutions to enhance the speed and accuracy of the legal department.
  • Relationship Management
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with key internal parties and external constituents.
  • Represent the Infra Red business in relationships with key clients and key external parties including regulators.
  • Informs key internal leaders on legal matters that may impact current or future business deals or decisions.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of the private assets investment management industry in the UK and ideally internationally.

Exposure to infrastructure investing in Europe, North America and South America.

  • 10+ years PQE, with a mix of experience in the fund practice of a top‑tier international law firm and in‑house experience with a PE or Investment Manager
  • Impeccable legal ethics and sound judgment.
  • Make confident, commercially‑led decisions—seizing opportunity while managing risk.
  • Ability to translate complex legal topics into clear, actionable guidance for leadership and cross‑functional teams.
  • Demonstrable expertise in advising on and structuring a variety of fund vehicles, including feeder vehicles, co‑investment vehicles,
  • Ability to work both on an independent basis and in teams and to provide leadership as required of the latter. Collaborative with and supportive of team members.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple issues across different activities and jurisdictions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced and entrepreneurial deadline‑driven environment, showing flexibility and the ability to manage uncertainty.
