Role overview
Senior Scientific Communications Consultant – Arc Bio Communications, an IQVIA business (London – hybrid or remote).
Responsibilities
- Develop effective scientific communications strategies and solutions aligned to the client’s business objectives.
- Challenge and interrogate client briefs through structured questioning and an understanding of the client and external landscape.
- Produce strategically aligned high-quality scientific strategy, insights and content (e.g. medical communications strategy, advisory boards and consultations, narratives, scientific platforms, messaging (internal and external), senior leader presentations, thought leadership articles, social content).
- Lead, motivate and inspire teams to deliver communications programmes and projects of high strategic value.
- Champion scientific excellence and provide scientific counsel to teams and clients.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and engage with senior-level pharmaceutical executives.
- Grow business organically through existing client relationships and support new business opportunities and proposals.
- Accurately plan finances, manage forecasting and team resourcing.
Role description
- Client service: Lead and maintain excellent client relationships; provide ongoing consultation and counsel on a peer-to-peer basis.
- Develop scientifically sound communications strategies and solutions tailored to client challenges; ask probing questions to address ambiguity.
- Deliver client-ready work of the highest standard, with exceptional quality in a timely manner.
- Develop high-quality business proposals for new and existing clients.
- Support organic growth of existing accounts through high-quality work and ongoing client discussions.
- Network outside of Arc Bio to support new business development and represent Arc Bio at industry events.
Project management
- Establish systems and processes for accurate programme/project planning and management; quickly course-correct when needed.
- Produce accurate cost estimates and manage budgets, keeping clients and team informed of potential overruns and offering solutions.
Leadership
- Lead client account teams; set strategy in partnership with Arc Bio Partners and clients; monitor progress and course-correct as needed.
- Delegate and prioritise within client account teams; provide direction and ownership to ensure delivery.
- Develop others through tailored direction and feedback.
- Facilitate communication between teams and clients and take ownership of strategic client discussions.
Communication and impact
- Present with confidence and conviction; influence, negotiate and address objections from senior stakeholders.
- Adapt communication style for different audiences to gain buy-in.
- Think clearly and provide professional client counsel; develop others as appropriate.
Technical ability and skills
- Industry: Stay up-to-date with factors influencing pharma and biotech; understand mechanics of business basics.
- Science: Strong working knowledge of the science relevant to clients’ focuses; maintain high scientific excellence and accuracy; adhere to regulatory requirements and codes of practice.
- Strategy: Discuss client goals; apply theoretical approaches to client challenges; participate in strategic development and workshop facilitation.
- Marketing and communications: Understand healthcare marketing principles with capabilities in PR, medical education and/or scientific communications; understand evaluation and KPIs across channels.
