Overview
As CPM Line Manager, you lead a team of Clinical Project Managers within the cFSP model, providing coaching, performance oversight, and career development support. You drive onboarding, competency assessment, and ongoing staff development while ensuring project governance, quality standards, and regulatory compliance. You collaborate with clients and cross‑functional teams to optimize resource use and delivery. Your leadership helps the CPM group grow, perform, and contribute to the cFSP partnership and broader IQVIA objectives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports and provide coaching and performance feedback
- Set clear performance expectations and manage ongoing performance reviews
- Coach and mentor team members for leadership development and career progression
- Lead onboarding, training, and integration of new CPMs into the cFSP model
- Complete competency assessments and development plans for direct reports
- Monitor team engagement, workload, training, and development needs
- Support employee engagement initiatives and action planning from feedback
- Ensure CPMs understand responsibilities within client-led work packages and delivery models
- Ensure work adheres to processes, SOPs, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Review resource allocation and partner on capacity planning, succession, and backfill
- Produce and present team status reports and operational updates to leadership
- Support reporting on resource management, time reporting, compliance, and operational discipline
- Collaborate with functional leadership and clients on resource management and clear ways of working
- Drive continuous improvement and sharing of best practices across the CPM team
- Represent the CPM line management function in governance, talent reviews, and client forums
- Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and workforce planning for CPMs
- Serve as escalation point for people-related and operational challenges
- Promote accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous development
- Participate in initiatives supporting talent development, resource management, and business objectives
Key requirements
- Bachelor in Life Sciences or related field
- At least 5 years of clinical research experience, including minimum 3 years in a leadership role
- Strong clinical project management background with global study experience
- Experience in sponsor-dedicated/FSP model, CRO, or large pharmaceutical environment
- Leadership experience through mentoring, coaching, or study team oversight is valuable
- Solid knowledge of clinical trial conduct and regulatory requirements (ICH-GCP)
- Proven ability to deliver projects on quality and timeline
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Coaching, influencing, negotiation, judgment, and decision-making capabilities
- Good problem-solving skills and proactive in addressing performance or operational challenges
- Ability to build cross-functional relationships across geographies and cultures
