Our Medicines Evaluation Unit (MEU), based in Manchester, is a UK leader in Early Phase clinical trials with deep expertise in clinical pharmacology and hybrid study delivery. Our integrated model enables clients to run complete Early Phase programmes through a single-site solution.

We are seeking a senior commercial leader with a strong track record supporting Biotech and Pharma clients, delivering customized early clinical services globally, and operating across multiple therapeutic areas. This role is critical to driving early phase growth not just for MEU but also for our broader early phase organization, delivering through our global partner site network, and potential future acquisitions. The Senior Director will define and execute the Early Phase go-to-market strategy, strengthen sales effectiveness, deliver against growth targets, and manage commercial ownership. Reporting to the General Manager of MEU and Head of Early Clinical Development, this role will work across operations and sales in a matrix organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver annual sales targets across Life Sciences clients.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of IQVIA Early Phase solutions to identify cross-sell opportunities.
  • Prospect and convert new business within new and existing accounts.
  • Build and execute strategic account plans.
  • Develop strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Network across the industry to identify new opportunities.
  • Track competitive activity and understand reasons for wins/losses.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline and monitor opportunity progression.
  • Partner with operations and functional leaders to prepare and lead sales presentations.
  • Coordinate with Contracts and Proposals teams to develop high-quality proposals.
  • Manage follow-up and drive contract completion.
  • Use CRM tools to track activity, analyse performance, and report progress.
  • Maintain high visibility within customer organizations and communicate account activity to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 15 years of experience in a CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environment.
  • Minimum 10 years of BD experience in a CRO or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of Early Phase (Phase I) clinical processes.
