IQVIA is exploring interest from experienced GPs to support large‑scale, pharmacist‑led clinical programmes delivered across primary care in the UK. This role provides senior clinical oversight, complex decision‑making, and pathway leadership, enabling programmes to run end‑to‑end without creating additional workload for GP practices. It is not a traditional GP role, but a portfolio opportunity focused on system‑level impact.
As a GP Clinical Lead, you will work alongside advanced clinical pharmacists to support commissioned programmes across PCNs, ICBs, or partnership initiatives. Your contribution will focus on clinical governance, escalation support, and pathway interpretation, rather than delivering routine GP activity.
Typical Activities May Include:
- Clinical oversight of pharmacist‑led reviews and interventions
- Supporting complex, non‑standard or higher‑risk clinical decisions
- Escalation guidance for diagnostically uncertain patients
- Input into pathway design and application of national guidance
- Occasional case‑review sessions (rather than full clinical lists)
- Peer‑to‑peer education and clinical consultancy
- Supporting change management and adoption of best practice
This Role Will Not Involve:
- Taking on routine GP workload for individual practices
- Delivering day‑to‑day pharmacist activity
- Practice administration, partnership duties, or QOF management
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re keen to hear from GPs who are interested in clinical leadership at scale, and who value multidisciplinary working.
Core background:
- Currently practising, or recently practising, GP in the NHS
- Strong understanding of day‑to‑day general practice pressures
- Comfortable working across multiple practices or PCNs
Relevant Clinical Experience (one Or More Areas):
- Respiratory care (asthma, COPD, diagnostics)
- Cardiovascular disease prevention and management
- Lipid management, hypertension, AF, heart failure, multimorbidity
- Medicines optimisation and complex prescribing decisions
Commitment and flexibility:
Time commitment will vary by programme and geography, but is structured rather than ad hoc.
This Opportunity May Suit GPs Seeking:
- A portfolio career alongside clinical practice
- Flexible commitments
- Remote or hybrid working
- Time‑limited programme involvement rather than a permanent role
