Provide technical leadership and management direction for database administration teams in a matrix-managed environment. Lead advanced database design, analysis, administration and performance optimization to support complex processing needs and future business requirements.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide technical leadership and management direction to database administration team members
- Manage resource allocations within a matrix-managed environment
- Lead, plan and oversee state-of-the-art database designs to solve complex database processing problems
- Perform complex database analysis and database design tasks using advanced techniques on the forefront of technology
- Ensure databases meet required operational standards and performance levels, including reliability, response time and query execution time
- Prepare cost analyses and justification for difficult database systems
- Serve as a senior consultant to staff by providing strategic technical advice and consultation on database analysis and design reviews
- Participate in the administration, monitoring, tuning and support of databases in the production environment
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Twelve (12) years of information technology experience
- Eight (8) years experience in the database administration area
- Experience applying database design approaches that consider existing and future needs, capacity, limitations, operating time and desired results
- Experience evaluating database implementation approaches, backup strategies and recovery strategies
- Knowledge of database administration activities including denormalization, data archival schemes, sizing, data definition language and database objects
- Knowledge of referential integrity, security enforcement and application optimization
- Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
