We are seeking a Director, Test Code Product & Lifecycle to join IQVIA Laboratories at Valencia, CA. If you want to discover a career with greater purpose, join us as we transform and accelerate research and development.

Provide technical leadership and management direction for database administration teams in a matrix-managed environment. Lead advanced database design, analysis, administration and performance optimization to support complex processing needs and future business requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide technical leadership and management direction to database administration team members
  • Manage resource allocations within a matrix-managed environment
  • Lead, plan and oversee state-of-the-art database designs to solve complex database processing problems
  • Perform complex database analysis and database design tasks using advanced techniques on the forefront of technology
  • Ensure databases meet required operational standards and performance levels, including reliability, response time and query execution time
  • Prepare cost analyses and justification for difficult database systems
  • Serve as a senior consultant to staff by providing strategic technical advice and consultation on database analysis and design reviews
  • Participate in the administration, monitoring, tuning and support of databases in the production environment

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Twelve (12) years of information technology experience
  • Eight (8) years experience in the database administration area
  • Experience applying database design approaches that consider existing and future needs, capacity, limitations, operating time and desired results
  • Experience evaluating database implementation approaches, backup strategies and recovery strategies
  • Knowledge of database administration activities including denormalization, data archival schemes, sizing, data definition language and database objects
  • Knowledge of referential integrity, security enforcement and application optimization
  • Other equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be accepted in lieu of degree

  • Ability to lead technical teams and provide management direction in a matrix-managed environment
  • Strong strategic consultation skills with the ability to advise and guide staff on complex database analysis and design reviews
  • Advanced problem-solving skills for complex database processing challenges
  • Ability to evaluate technical options and recommend database design, implementation, backup and recovery strategies
  • Strong focus on operational reliability, performance optimization and production support
