Job Overview:

The Director, Metrology is responsible for leading a team of individuals to ensure effective oversight of instrumentation and equipment compliance and business requirements.

Manages and directs the global activities of metrology operations across IQVIA Laboratories.

Actively monitors and assesses the state of metrology operations across IQVIA Laboratories, develops effective strategies to meet the lab delivery requirements of the business.

Drives cross functional partnerships to address challenges and proactively drive process improvements and innovative solutions.

Ensures timely and appropriate resolution of CAPA and quality incidents, quality and compliance metrics, root cause analysis and improvement.

Maintains oversight of instrumentation and metrology programs for both Central Lab and Specialty Lab operations to ensure effective delivery and readiness to support business growth.

Partners to provide technical leadership cross-functionally to identify new equipment needs, budgetary requirements, and RFP\’s.

Leads investigations with EHS/Quality and drives resolution for enhancements.

Responsible for management of outside vendors to ensure effective support of applicable instruments.

Responsible for the creation of training programs and tools, as well as the delivery of training to employees on equipment and instrumentation usage.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences and/or related field preferred Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.

  • 10 years of experience in a clinical, research, academic or commercial/production laboratory environment.

  • 5 years of line management experience.

  • Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one department or multiple related departments.

  • Experience overseeing complex instrumentation and metrology programs, driving, and implementing best practices.

  • Experience with evaluating and implementing new instrumentation and metrology technologies and improvements, inclusive of financial considerations.

  • Proficiency with reading and interpreting engineering documents and equipment schematics, evaluating and on-boarding of new equipment.
