Job Description
A highly experienced healthcare communications leader with a minimum of 10-12 years’ experience in strategic healthcare communications, medical communications and/or scientific communications. Ideally with strong consultancy/agency experience.
Client Service
- With intermittent Partner/Managing Partner input works to build a portfolio of business and takes ownership of this within its entirety.
- Leads, builds and sets the direction and strategy of the portfolio on a day-to-day basis.
- Develops industry leading scientific, creative and/or commercial communication strategies and programmes.
- Builds and maintains excellent relationships with clients, providing ongoing consultation and counsel on a peer-to-peer basis.
- Considers the senior leadership context, providing strategic guidance to C‑suite and senior leadership teams within pharma and biotech.
Business Growth
- Consistently works to grow the existing portfolio of business organically through high‑quality work and identifying new high‑strategic‑value opportunities.
- Leverages a strong professional network for business development.
- Brings in new opportunities and converts them into new client workstreams.
- Consistently engages networks outside of the organization, attending and contributing to industry and client events and meetings.
Project Management
- Accountable for high‑level project planning and management, effective budgetary control and resource/team planning to deliver projects within the portfolio.
- Effectively delegates and prioritises for project teams, providing direction to ensure delivery while allowing individual ownership.
- Provides project management guidance and training to direct teams.
- Sets the highest standards with respect to quality, originality, strong strategic thinking and detail accuracy at all times.

- Strong command of at least three key technical areas (as required at Associate Partner level and above).

- Stays current on factors influencing pharma and biotech sectors, including M&A activity and corporate innovation strategy.
- Maintains strong knowledge of industry opportunities and developments, and clients’ operating environments.
- Uses findings to draw conclusions, formulate actions and exploit opportunities relevant to the business.
Scientific Expertise
- Has a strong working knowledge of the science in client focus areas.
- Capable of constructively challenging client thinking on a peer‑to‑peer level, producing novel scientific strategic points of view.
- Stays aware of latest announcements from key congresses, experts and evolving trends that may impact communication strategy recommendations.
