Job Overview
Assist with strategic and operational support for the office of the General Counsel. Provide counsel in one or more of the following areas: contract law, employment law, commercial law, regulatory or compliance.
Essential Functions
- Review, draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and organizational policies.
- Monitor the contract process to assure compliance with the organization's contractual guidelines, ensuring satisfaction of customers and vendors; participate in pre‑contract discussions, negotiations and changes.
- Act as a Legal Partner to one or more IQVIA Business Units, providing strategic legal support on key customer issues, market dynamics, M&A opportunities and process improvements.
- Provide legal advice regarding employment law and liaise with Human Resources on issues related to the organization’s human capital; monitor implications regarding discrimination, sexual harassment, health and safety, hiring and firing, and other employee rights.
- Advise and represent the organization on legal matters concerning patent, copyright, trademark, real estate or privacy; assess legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting a lawsuit, prepare files, and take cases to trial if out‑of‑court settlements cannot be reached.
- Assess impact of case outcomes and initiate steps to implement any resultant changes.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (or equivalent) and an active license to practice law in the applicable jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 10 years in‑house legal department, law firm and/or other relevant legal experience.
- Effective organizational, planning, project management, communication, presentation, interpersonal, pragmatic problem‑solving and influence skills.
- Strong business acumen and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and/or drug development process preferred.
- Working knowledge of data protection, privacy, and related laws and regulations preferred.
- Ability to engage in complex problem solving, hard‑working and results‑oriented.
- Demonstrated ability to work creatively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Demonstrated sound judgment and decision‑making skills.
- Skilled in using MS Office Suite: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.
