The role of a Claims Technician at ERS is challenging yet rewarding, offering the opportunity to become a key member of a fast‑paced, continually evolving team within the UK’s largest specialist motor insurer. The role holder is responsible for carrying out a range of duties associated with the provision of an excellent claims service to our customers, including recording new claims, resolving telephone enquiries, handling correspondence, dealing with complaints, and authorising payments as appropriate. The role also involves negotiating the settlement of claims efficiently, fairly and economically in accordance with policy wording and the Claims Handling Manual, while maintaining pre‑agreed targets and continuously improving service and quality standards.
Hybrid Working Model
ERS offers a hybrid working model, with three days per week in the office and two days working remotely, to combine flexibility with collaborative opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to customer phone calls and correspondence in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.
- Establish the circumstances of any loss and conduct appropriate indemnity, liability, or fraud enquiries.
- Negotiate settlement of claims in an efficient and economical manner.
- Maintain accurate estimates of claim adjustments where appropriate.
- Ensure use of approved suppliers where appropriate.
- Apply all company policies and procedures to ensure service standards are met in accordance with internal SLA and FCA/PRA requirements.
- Carry out other reasonable tasks as required by line management.
