The Role Electromechanical Fitters: What You'll Be Doing
You will be responsible for the mechanical installation, assembly, and fitting of High Voltage (HV) substation infrastructure and power generation equipment. This is a hybrid role requiring heavy mechanical fitting, steel fabrication, and precision electrical installation.
As our Electromechanical Fitter you will be responsible for:
- Structural Installation: Steelwork erection (gantries/supports), fabrication, and modification.
- HV Apparatus: Mechanical assembly and alignment of Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers (AIS/GIS), Isolators, and Busbars.
- Precision Engineering: Torquing, tensioning, and levelling to strict manufacturer tolerances.
- Specialist Systems: Installation of rotating electrical machines, including Synchronous Condensers and Hydro Turbines (alignment of shafts, bearings, and couplings).
- Containment & Earthing: Installation of heavy-duty cable management and copper earthing systems.
In order to be successful in this role you must have:
- Proven Track Record: 3+ years of verifiable experience in HV substations or Power Generation environments.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings (CAD/Schematics) and P&ID diagrams.
- Licensing: Full, valid Driver's License (Manual transmission capability preferred).
It would be great if you had:
- Rotating Machinery: Experience with the overhaul or installation of Hydro Turbines or Synchronous Condensers.
- Welding: Current or previous coding (MIG/TIG/Arc) to ISO, AWS, or ASME standards.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with BS or IEC standards.
