The Senior Sustainability and Energy Analyst will play a pivotal role in translating sustainability, energy and ESG data into clear insight, measurable value and actionable recommendations for the business. Working closely with the Sustainability Manager, Asset Management, Finance, Estates, Operations and senior leadership teams, this role will support iQ in understanding the financial, operational and strategic value of sustainability across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:- Sustainability Value, Insight and Executive Decision Support
- Interpret data to draw meaningful insights and translate into clear business messages
- Identify and quantify the financial, operational, carbon and reputational value created through sustainability initiatives
- Prepare insight-led analysis, recommendations and decision papers
- Connect sustainability performance with broader business outcomes
- Energy, Utility and Portfolio Performance Analytics
- Lead monitoring, analysis and reporting across the portfolio
- Develop forecasts, budget variance analyses and cost reports, alongside clear dashboards, performance reports and commentary that explain key trends, the reasons for changes in performance and the decisions required.
- Support energy procurement, contract management and hedging activities
- Support business case development for energy efficiency, renewable energy and decarbonisation projects
- ESG Data, Reporting and Assurance
- Maintain reliable energy, utility spend, emissions, water, waste and sustainability data
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual ESG reporting, including IFRS S1/S2, TCFD and UK SRS requirements
- Support assurance, audit and investor reporting activities
- Climate Risk and Scenario Analysis
- Assist the Sustainability Manager with climate risk assessments, scenario analysis and transition planning
- Analyse portfolio energy, carbon and climate performance to inform net-zero pathways
- Support the implementation and tracking of climate resilience interventions
- Continuous Improvement
- Contribute ideas for improving sustainability data systems, analytical methods, reporting processes and project delivery, with a focus on creating more timely and useful insights.
- Keep up to date with evolving sustainability standards, best practices, market trends and sector developments, assessing their relevance for iQ and advising on implications.
- Degree or equivalent experience in Energy Management, Sustainability, Engineering, Environmental Science, Finance, Data Analytics or related field.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with large datasets.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability.
- Experience analysing utility consumption, cost and performance trends.
- Knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks including IFRS S1/S2, TCFD, GHG Protocol and CRREM.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
- Experience in the real estate or student accommodation sector.
- Knowledge of decarbonisation technologies and climate risk assessment.
- Familiarity with external assurance processes for sustainability data.
