Technical Operative – Live Entertainment
The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) – comprising the SEC Centre, SEC Armadillo and The OVO Hydro – is Scotland’s premier venue for events, concerts, conferences and exhibitions. We enjoy an enviable reputation as one of Europe’s most prestigious venues, attracting over 2 million visitors per year.
We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Technical Operative, Live Entertainment to join our team.

Role Summary:
As a Technical Operative, you’ll work within the Technical Team to support the delivery, setup, and breakdown of a wide range of live events across the SEC campus. From staging and rigging to maintenance and equipment prep, you’ll play a vital role in making sure our events run safely, smoothly and successfully.
This is a physically active role that requires a strong awareness of health and safety, excellent teamwork and a flexible, positive approach to problem-solving. This position requires a willingness to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends and public holidays. Nightshift/overnight working is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- To co-ordinate the venue technical requirements for staging events including rigging, stage building, installation of drapes, seating and furniture.
- Support the load-in and load-out of equipment and scenery for performances and events.
- Operate plant and mechanical handling equipment, including MEWPs and Forklift Trucks, safely and efficiently.
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained to a high standard.
- Carry out regular checks, maintenance when required as part of the planned maintenance programme and report faults on technical systems and infrastructure.
- Follow safe working practices in accordance with campus health and safety policies.
- To ensure that all functions are carried out in accordance with current legislation, standards and codes of practice and to proactively identify risks and ensure that Risk Assessments are undertaken for all Technical Operations.
- To oversee and supervise the technical operations carried out by temporary members of the team, ensuring they are well-informed, safe and compliant with any company procedures.
- Respond flexibly to the needs of different events
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting events in live entertainment or similar environments.
- Experience in a technical production, event delivery, or venue operations role is desirable.
- Awareness of health and safety regulations; MEWP and working at height experience desirable.
- Experience in forklift truck driving
- A valid IPAF ticket
- Ability to adapt to a variety of event types.
- A proactive, practical approach and strong problem-solving skills.
