Founded in 2001, the Slam Dunk brand originated as a club night held at The Cockpit in Leeds, championing the pop-punk, emo, punk rock, ska punk, hardcore, and metalcore music scenes. Since its inception, Slam Dunk has grown to promote over 200 gigs annually across the UK, has become the country’s biggest independent rock festival—hosted across two greenfield sites in Leeds and Hatfield—and most recently expanded into festivals across European markets.
About the role
We are seeking a passionate, organised, and driven individual with ideas, energy, and an enthusiasm for rock and alternative music to take on the role of Marketing Manager at Slam Dunk Music. Reporting to the Futuresound Group Head of Marketing, you will be responsible for the marketing of Slam Dunk Festival, Slam Dunk Presents national tour campaigns and managing our expansion into international markets.
You will plan and lead projects, through a collaborative and integrated approach to deliver campaigns on time and to budget. This role spans a range of marketing disciplines, including digital, social, print, outdoor, and press.
Job Purpose
- Working with the FSG Head of Marketing to strategise the festival’s marketing and promotional campaigns.
- Work with the Director, FSG Head of Marketing and design team to shape the festival’s branding and identity.
- Taking year-round ownership for festival promotion, maximising ticket sales and brand presence and awareness.
- Oversee the festival’s online marketing including social media, online, email marketing and app development.
- Managing engaging content and campaigns, including managing freelancers, content creators and influencers.
- Work closely alongside the festival’s PR team to amplify the brand’s presence across press, radio, TV, and digital.
- Coordinate the production and implantation of print and outdoor marketing campaigns for the festival including large format national billboard campaigns and widespread flier and print campaigns.
- Working collaboratively with key stakeholders including festival partners and sponsors.
- Track and manage project budgets in collaboration with the FSG Head of Marketing.
- Ensuring all costs are accurate and accounted for across all marketing elements.
- Further develop the Slam Dunk brand in international markets with a focus of maximising ticket sales.
- Working with internal and global teams to align efforts and maximise international campaign impact.
- Market the Slam Dunk merch range to help grow it into a year-round business
- You will be responsible for planning and executing national marketing campaigns for multiple shows promoted by Slam Dunk Presents.
- Managing national marketing budgets of various sizes, strategising and implementing campaigns
- Coordinating national campaigns across a wide range of marketing disciplines including hand-to-hand marketing, OOH marketing, print and digital
- Liaising with key stakeholders in relation to national marketing including agents, venues, promoters and management.
Experience, skills, attributes & qualifications
- Music marketing experience at a national/international level with a proven track record of managing marketing campaigns from start to completion
- Strong organisational, communication, copywriting skills with impeccable attention to detail.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- A creative thinker who can action fun, memorable and engaging marketing campaigns.
- Must be able to work collaboratively whilst leading other team members.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing tools and platforms
- In depth working knowledge of the UK rock industry is preferred.
