Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 DOE

About iQ HealthTech: At iQ HealthTech, we are dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes through innovative technology. Our flagship product, iQemo, supports safer and more efficient electronic systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) prescribing and is used by the NHS, private healthcare providers in the UK, Australia and beyond. As we continue to expand into new regions, our systems are built to operate in complex, regulated healthcare environments worldwide. Our systems support clinicians making critical decisions every day. Reliability, clarity and thoughtful engineering matter here. As we grow into new regions, we design our platforms to scale across jurisdictions, healthcare models and regulatory expectations without losing focus on quality or safety.

Role Summary: We are looking for a hands-on Platform and Cloud Engineer to help strengthen, simplify, and scale the cloud and delivery platform behind our products. This is a key role in a small but ambitious UK healthtech company operating in a regulated environment. Our core product, iQemo, is a cloud-hosted electronic chemotherapy prescribing solution used in oncology care. We also operate an Insurer Portal and support a growing data services capability. The role suits someone with strong Azure infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and DevOps capability, combined with a practical, service-oriented mindset. You will improve reliability, observability, deployment maturity, security posture, and infrastructure consistency, while working closely with developers to reduce operational friction and support more frequent, lower-risk releases. We are looking for someone technically strong, pragmatic, and calm under pressure, who is comfortable taking ownership of a cloud estate where priorities matter and good judgement counts.

Why Join Us?

  • Fully remote role with flexible working options
  • Personal development plans, including a professional development/training budget
  • 25 paid holiday days plus bank holidays (your birthday off too!)
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • 4% employer contribution to company pension scheme
  • Access to wellbeing apps
  • Government-set working from home monthly allowance
  • An opportunity to make a real difference by developing technologies that improve patient outcomes
  • Paid out-of-hours developer support rota once onboarded
  • Competitive salary with regular reviews and opportunities for growth
  • Work with innovative systems serving both national private providers and the NHS

Duties and responsibilities: You will own and improve the cloud and platform foundations that support our products and engineering team. That includes Azure architecture and operations, Kubernetes platform support, CI/CD pipeline improvement, infrastructure as code, monitoring and alerting, identity and access configuration, environment reliability, and operational support. You will also play an important role in strengthening our security and compliance posture, supporting controls aligned with frameworks such as Cyber Essentials, SOC 2, and ISO 27001, and helping ensure our infrastructure and delivery practices are appropriate for a regulated healthtech SaaS business. As part of a small organisation, the role includes broader technical operations such as infrastructure troubleshooting, Microsoft 365 and Entra administration, networking support, and occasional out-of-hours work for critical issues or planned changes. Participation in a paid out-of-hours support rota is required once fully onboarded.

Platform, cloud, and infrastructure: Own and improve our Azure environment architecture, configuration, maintenance, and operational health. Support and evolve our cloud platform to improve stability, resilience, observability, security, and cost control. Manage and support Kubernetes-based workloads, including deployments, configuration, troubleshooting, scaling, and operational reliability. Maintain and improve core infrastructure services, environments, and platform components across development, test, and production. Support infrastructure standardisation and simplification to reduce operational overhead and environment drift. Help define the practical target-state platform architecture for a small regulated SaaS company.

CI/CD, release engineering, and developer enablement: Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines to support faster, more reliable releases. Work closely with developers to improve deployment automation, environment consistency, rollback capability, and release confidence. Support a move from heavy, manual release processes toward more automated, repeatable, and controlled delivery. Improve developer experience by reducing platform friction and making environments and deployment paths easier to use and support. Support tools and practices such as Argo CD and GitOps-style deployment approaches where appropriate.

Infrastructure as code and automation: Maintain and extend Terraform-based infrastructure as code. Improve automation for environment provisioning, configuration, deployment, and operational support tasks. Reduce manual platform work through scripting, standardisation, and repeatable operational patterns.

Security, compliance, and operational controls: Support a proportionate, risk-based security posture across cloud infrastructure and delivery pipelines. Contribute to infrastructure and operational controls aligned to Cyber Essentials, SOC 2, and ISO 27001 expectations. Support secure identity and access management across Azure, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365. Help improve secrets management, patching, vulnerability management, auditability, backup and recovery, and incident readiness. Work with internal stakeholders on security remediation and infrastructure compliance priorities.

Monitoring, support, and operational readiness: Improve monitoring, logging, alerting, dashboards, and operational visibility across environments and services. Support troubleshooting of infrastructure, deployment, networking, and platform issues. Assist with server management and environment support, including some out-of-hours support where required. Help create runbooks, operational procedures, and support standards to reduce reactive firefighting and improve recovery times.

Identity, networking, and Microsoft platform support: Support SSO and identity-related platform configuration in Azure / Entra. Help resolve networking issues to and from our infrastructure. Support administration and management of Entra ID and Microsoft 365 services where needed. Provide broader technical operations and IT platform support appropriate to a small company environment.

Key Skills:

Essential experience and skills:

  • 6+ years’ experience in a relevant Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Infrastructure Engineer role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in production environments.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Practical production experience with Kubernetes, including deployment, troubleshooting, monitoring, scaling, and operational support.
  • Strong experience with Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tooling.
  • Experience with Argo CD, GitOps approaches, or equivalent modern deployment tooling.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking, access control, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Experience improving platform reliability, observability, and operational readiness.
  • Experience supporting security controls and infrastructure compliance in a business-critical environment.
  • Good understanding of identity and access technologies including Entra ID / Azure AD, SSO, and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Able to work closely with software developers and act as an enabling technical partner, not just an infrastructure gatekeeper.
  • Comfortable operating in a small company where breadth, ownership, and pragmatism matter.

Highly desirable:

  • Experience in healthtech, regulated SaaS, or another compliance-driven environment.
  • Experience with frameworks such as Cyber Essentials, SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
  • Experience with observability tooling, incident response processes, and production support improvement.
  • Experience managing or supporting Windows servers and mixed environments.
  • Experience with SQL Server, database administration, or performance/support troubleshooting.
  • Experience moving teams from manual to automated delivery processes.
  • Experience in small product companies with broad platform responsibilities.

Personal qualities:

  • Calm, pragmatic, and reliable under pressure.
  • Strong ownership and follow-through.
  • Good judgement about risk, especially in live and regulated environments.
  • Able to balance speed with control.
  • Collaborative with a strong service mindset.
  • Comfortable with both strategic improvement and hands-on work.
  • Clear communicator across technical and non-technical audiences.

Why this role matters: This role is central to improving platform stability, reducing delivery risk, strengthening security, and enabling more reliable and frequent releases. It supports the foundations needed for future product growth, interoperability, and data capability. In the first 12 months, you will improve platform stability, security, and scalability, enabling smoother releases, stronger monitoring, and less friction for engineers.

Our Recruitment Process: We’re committed to maintaining a safe and compliant workforce. The successful applicant will be appointed subject to satisfactory references and a basic DBS check. Applicants must have the legal right to live and work in the UK; we are unable to offer sponsorship.
