THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated and hard-working Glazing Designer to join our dynamic design team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills with the possibility of quick progression through the design department. The design team are a key department based at the group HQ in Amersham who undertake all of our technical design drawings for our projects across the globe. The glazing designer will work as part of the design team to work with architects, homeowners, structural engineers, and contractors on our projects to get our technical drawings completed on time and to the highest quality.
REPORTING TO the Design Co-ordination Manager
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Glazing Designer, you will be responsible for preparing and updating technical CAD drawings for a range of project types, liaising with all decision makers on a project to ensure these are created correctly. As a Glazing Designer you will:
- Review the scope of works of our projects in line with the architects’ drawings to fully understand our remit
- Prepare shop drawings for client’s comments or approval
- Update drawings from site survey findings, creating construction issue drawings for manufacture
- Prepare ‘take offs’ and cutting lists from our drawings for procurement
- Maintain prompt and professional communication with all parties of the project team, ensuring our client and the wider project team are always kept fully up to date and that all their answers are responded to quickly
- Represent the design department in ‘handover’ meetings with the sales department to ensure the design team have all the information they need to begin drawings for confirmed orders
- Work to and hit an individual target for the value of approved drawings you have secured per month and quarter

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
Successful applicants to the junior glazing designer role will:
- Have excellent AutoCAD 2D skills
- Have the ability to read and understand technical building drawings and survey information
- Have excellent communication skills (written and spoken English)
- Be willing to learn about new products and systems
- Have the ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and work to company targets
- Live within a commutable distance of HP6 6JQ
- Candidates with glazing experience or experience with a similar trade would be preferable
