The Shared Revenues and Benefits Partnership (SRP) is the Council Tax, Business Rates and Benefits service for Ipswich Borough Council, Mid Suffolk District Council and Babergh District Council. The partnership brings together three councils to deliver high-quality Revenues and Benefits services across the area. As an Apprentice within the partnership, you will gain hands-on experience in a busy local government environment, carrying out a range of administrative duties while working with confidential information. You will be fully supported while completing a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration. This is a 37-hour per week role, worked Monday to Friday, offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years. The post is based at Grafton House, 15-17 Russell Road, Ipswich.

What will you be doing?

  • Answering customer enquiries and updating accounts
  • Checking letters, emails and reports and taking the right action
  • Helping to review customer entitlements, such as benefits, discounts and exemptions
  • Carrying out searches to help confirm customer details or find updated contact information
  • Supporting officers with admin tasks, including booking appointments and preparing casework
  • Helping to gather information, statistics and reports
  • Getting involved in projects and ideas to improve the service
  • Working towards and completing your apprenticeship qualification
  • Carrying out other reasonable tasks linked to the role

About you

You will have at least 2 GCSEs at grade 4 (or equivalent), including English Language and Maths, and a good eye for detail, particularly when working with numbers and statistics. You will be well organised, with good written and verbal communication skills, and be a flexible team player with a positive, “can do” attitude. You will be committed to successfully completing your apprenticeship and developing your skills within the partnership.
