The Business Support Officer role is a varied and interesting role in one of the Council's largest front line services. Maintenance & Contracts are responsible for all property related matters relating to the Council's 7,800 Council homes. The Council spends circa £25m maintaining, improving and keeping those homes safe and decent for our tenants. The service works from a brand new BREEAM outstanding environmentally friendly depot called Layard House.
The role involves providing all of the business support you would expect from a busy front-line service with 145 employees. You will be required to ensure the service can successfully deliver its objectives for the Council and our tenants. The postholder will report to the Business Support Team Leader with a focus on the administration and reporting of the Layard House depot facility contracts. The post holder will also assist with the day-to-day operational management of the depot and work with colleagues in our Waste & Fleet teams to ensure the depot is maintained and serviced to the exemplary standards expected.
The role is five days a week, 22.2 hour part time (Monday through to Friday) and is based at Layard House, 11 New Way, Ipswich. IP2 OFA. The hours of work are flexible with the expectation that work is completed within the business hours of between 8am and 5pm. You may be required to work at other locations such as the Council's head office, Grafton House, on occasions. The Council operates a flexible working policy but due to the nature of this role, which often requires a hands on approach, it is anticipated you will be expected to work office based at Layard House, not less than three days a week.
Experience in quality management systems, processes and procedures would be extremely beneficial. You will be expected to work on your own initiative and be confident to make your own decisions, communicate to a wide audience and guide and advise both employees and external contractors where necessary. Hours of work are 22.2 per week, Monday to Friday. This is a hybrid working role (a minimum of 3 days per week working in the office).
