A Building Control Administrator provides essential administrative support to the Building Control team who carry out the regulatory Building Control function as well as providing a customer facing role to clients, architects, builders and other departments within the council.

Responsibilities

  • Process new applications, support existing applications, and update information on the document management system.
  • Act as a first point of contact for the department by answering telephone and email enquiries from the public, builders, architects, third party suppliers as well as other council departments.
  • Book inspections and coordinate scheduling as required.
  • Assist in maintaining effective customer support functions during core hours.
  • Support a hybrid working model with two days a week in the office as part of a small team of support and Inspection staff.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to work under pressure, deal with difficult customers in a calm and efficient manner, follow documented procedures and escalate issues as needed.
  • Understanding of the Building Control function is desirable but not essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel) and familiar with processing emails.

Hours and Location

Hours of work are 37 per week, Monday to Friday. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of two days per week working in the office.
