About The Role:

To undertake the management & delivery of Capital Programme work for Ipsum Power (OHL) Ltd. Set and implement standards for the project delivery team to ensure business is delivered productively and safely, adhering to legislation and maintaining compliance.

As a Contracts Manager you will:

  • Ensure all work is delivered safely and provide effective safety leadership so everyone in the project delivery team is proud to follow the rules
  • Ensure regular H&S meetings / forums are held and all safety information / TBTs delivered and cascaded in a timely manner
  • Ensure regular site inspections / Safety Tours are undertaken in line with Company internal requirements
  • Ensure all work is delivered to the required standards of quality and inspection and test plans are always fully completed
  • Be proactive across the offices in establishing training and development requirements in conjunction with HR and National OHL Director
  • Work with client and staff to ensure works are completed on time and within budget
  • Ensure monthly team meetings are held and management information is effectively cascaded down to the entire project delivery team
  • Carry out regular assessments / personal appraisals of all direct staff on project delivery team
  • Drive business to increase profit, whilst meeting business targets and objectives including control of direct and indirect costs
  • Support recruitments in line with Ipsum policy and business operating model
  • Submit weekly and monthly reports to National OHL Director covering measured achievement, revenue and gross profit forecasts, safety performance, training requirements, risks and opportunities
  • Ensure resources are scheduled effectively by ensuring project delivery team complete accurately completed booking forms for all work requirements

About You:

  • A degree qualification in Engineering, Business Management, Project Management or related
  • Practical experience in contract management or relevant studies (desirable)
  • Previous experience working in an operational role on EHV power distribution (overhead and underground circuits)
  • Previous experience delivering work that requires activities such as deep excavation, temporary works, cable installation, cable jointing, wood pole line construction and dismantlement, engaging with stakeholders including EA, Network Rail, Cadent Gas, private landowners and occupiers
  • Specific knowledge of how DNO networks operate
  • Solid and up-to-date knowledge of statutory requirements, legislation, and technical advances (e.g., what decarbonisation means for power distribution network)
  • Good knowledge of health and safety practice and effective risk controls
  • Commercial / contractual awareness including forms of contract such as NEC
  • Experience managing sub-contractors from safety, compliance and commercial perspectives
