About The Role… We're looking for an AutoCAD Electrical CAD Technician to strengthen our growing engineering support team and play a key role in the successful delivery of major infrastructure and technology projects. This position will focus on producing high-quality electrical and control system drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, supporting the delivery of a significant programme of work while helping drive the adoption of modern CAD processes and standards.
Working closely with engineers, project teams and technical specialists, you'll be responsible for creating and maintaining electrical schematics, panel layouts, cabinet drawings and PLC-integrated documentation.
As an AutoCAD Electrical CAD Technician you will…
- Produce electrical and control system drawings using AutoCAD Electrical
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cabinet layouts and panel drawings
- Develop PLC-integrated documentation and associated engineering deliverables
- Support the implementation and ongoing development of AutoCAD Electrical standards, templates and workflows
- Ensure all drawings are produced accurately and in line with project, client and industry standards
- Collaborate with engineers and project teams to translate technical requirements into deliverable designs
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality and consistency across the CAD function
About You… We're looking for someone with a strong engineering foundation and a passion for producing high-quality technical drawings. You will ideally have experience using AutoCAD Electrical and an understanding of electrical or control systems design.
You may currently be working as a CAD Technician, Electrical Designer, Controls Engineer or Electrical Engineer looking to transition into a specialist CAD role. A strong understanding of electrical schematics, control panels, instrumentation and PLC-based systems would be highly advantageous.
We're particularly interested in candidates who can combine engineering knowledge with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
Essential:
- Experience using AutoCAD Electrical, or a strong electrical/control engineering background with a desire to develop AutoCAD Electrical expertise
- Understanding of electrical schematics and control system documentation
- Ability to interpret engineering specifications and requirements
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Desirable:
- Experience producing panel layouts, cabinet drawings and PLC documentation
- Previous experience within utilities, infrastructure, transportation or industrial environments
- Knowledge of CAD standards, template creation and drawing management processes
