The predicted salary is between 48000 - 72000 £ per year.
Major projects typically consist of electrical and civil designs for: ICP connections from 33kV to 132kV, private networks from 11kV to 132kV, renewable energy projects, and balance of plant. Typical project value £1M-£15M.
As a Design Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the design phase of multiple Major projects, supporting the Design manager, and providing technical support to stakeholders throughout the business.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Manage stakeholders internal and external maintaining good relationships.
- Engage with Tendering and Construction team to offer support on technical queries and facilitate handover through the client journey.
- Represent Ipsum Power Ltd when required at customers and other 3rd party meetings.
- Identify and communicate commercial opportunities.
- Attend site as required.
- Assist in mapping and defining design processes.
- Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the standards, policies, and procedures of Ipsum Power Ltd and its customers.
- Ensure working practices and processes are followed.
- Design checks on all for construction Civil or electrical drawings issued by designers and contractors.
- Minor design amendments and AutoCAD work as needed.
- Delivery design phase of projects up to 400kV with appropriate use of specialist contractors.
- Escalate to manager any risks or nonconformances.
- Manage day-to-day activities of design contractors working on assigned projects.
- Be the main point of contact for clients for all design-related issues.
- Manage validation of contractor invoices against programme and contract within limits of delegated authority.
- Maintain positive cashflow and escalate any financial variation from contract or PO to design manager.
- Order any long lead items, once design is approved or risk profile agreed for off design orders within delegated level of authority.
- Ensure all designs are safe, technically correct, compliant, and deliverable.
- Meet KPI's and SLA.
- Own and maintain risk register for each project.
- Meet with Design manager regularly and report on progress against programme, risk management, and financials.
- Deliver design phase of projects as sold to client.
- Provide Technical support for other departments in the business.
- Provide cover for other team members as needed during planned absences.
- Any other work as required by the business.
- Act as mentor and support development of more junior team members.
- Act with delegated authority of the Design Manager where required.
About You
Desirable Qualifications & Professional Membership(s):
- Level 5 Qualification in either electrical or Civil engineering (required).
- Membership of professional body (required).
- Incorporated engineer or Chartership (Desirable).
- At least 4 years’ experience in a design role (required).
- At least 4 years’ experience in the electricity, power distribution systems, or renewables industry (required).
- Experience in managing design phase of projects from tender through to construction (required).
- Experience in design checking and design sign off (desirable).
- Knowledge of AutoCAD suite (or similar) (required).
- Knowledge of discipline specific programs (e.g. CDEGS, IPSA, Power Factory, Solid works) (desirable).
- Experience of operating in a commercial, multi-divisional organisation (desirable).
- Solid and up-to-date knowledge of statutory requirements, legislation, and technical advances within scope of specialism (e.g. General: HASAWA, NRSWA, C.O.S.H.H., CDM. For electrical specialism: P28, G5/5, G99. Industry standard civil design legislation, regulation, and standards) (required).
- Understanding of the renewables and power distribution/transmission industry (desirable).
