IPSO, the Independent Press Standards Organisation, is the regulator for the newspaper and magazine industry in the UK. Established in 2014, IPSO was created to uphold the highest standards of journalism and ensure that the public can hold the press accountable. Our mission is to promote accuracy, fairness, and integrity in the media, providing a framework for ethical reporting.

We work closely with publishers to develop and maintain a robust code of practice that reflects the values of responsible journalism. IPSO offers a free and accessible complaints service for members of the public who feel that they have been treated unfairly by the press. Our team is dedicated to resolving disputes and ensuring that the voices of individuals are heard.

In addition to handling complaints, IPSO also conducts investigations into potential breaches of our code and provides guidance and training to journalists and editors. We believe in the importance of transparency and regularly publish reports on our activities and findings.
