About The Role
The Global Patient Affairs Director for Neuroscience will lead the development and execution of patient engagement strategies across the neuroscience portfolio. You ensure that the patient voice is embedded throughout the product lifecycle; from early development through commercialization, by collaborating with internal stakeholders and external patient communities. You serve as the primary liaison between the company and global patient advocacy groups, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & Patient-Centric Vision: Lead the evolution and execution of patient-driven strategies for the neuroscience therapeutic area, ensuring alignment with corporate and asset-level goals. Establish patient-focused medicine development practices from Target Value Profile (TVP) / Target Product Profile (TPP) through early development to Phase IV studies and maturity.
- Evidence-Based Research & Patient Experience Data (PED): Involve patient experts, caregivers, and Patient Organizations early to inform R&D asset development, integrated evidence generation plans, and investment decisions. Generate and integrate patient insights to support R&D, including protocol design and recruitment strategies. Understand the PED landscape for existing and new indications, identify gaps, and lead PED generation initiatives. Develop Patient Experience Maps (PEM) for priority indications.
- Community Engagement in partnership with Public Affairs: Drive development of patient community engagement strategies to support both asset/product and above-asset strategic planning. Regular engagement with Patient Organization partners to understand their needs and expectations and define appropriate collaboration models.
- Strategic Decision Making: Incorporate patient insights into strategic decision-making across the asset lifecycle through direct involvement or actionable data. Ensure patients are recognized as key stakeholders by asset and brand leads.
- Patient Science Hub & Capability Building: Support the development of medical education programs grounded in health literacy and patient focus. Identify skills and knowledge gaps and propose improvements to patient engagement practices. Provide expertise to learning programs and contribute to the creation of toolkits and frameworks that support patient engagement.
- Governance, Compliance & Ethical Standards: Support the strategy and implementation of governance infrastructure for engagement with patient communities. Ensure all interactions with patient organizations comply with global ethical and regulatory standards. Respect national and international regulations, Ipsen’s code of conduct, and internal policies and procedures.
- Measurement & Executional Excellence: Benchmark and harmonize patient impact measures appropriate for the neuroscience therapeutic area. Ensure all activities have clearly defined Key Impact Indicators (KIIs) to measure and report outcomes in terms of value to patients, society, and Ipsen.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Establish strong cross-functional working practices with key partner functions including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, and Market Access.
Qualifications
- MD or PharmD or PhD
- Extensive experience working in Pharma/Biotech
- Global R&D, Clinical Operations, Global Medical Affairs exposure
- Close partnership with business and commercial functions
- International and cross-functional working including global to local interactions
- Clear accomplishment in execution and delivery: on time and on budget
- Successful track record in a prior Patient Engagement position in a medical role, the Pharma industry or a Patient Organisation
- Fluency in English
