Overview
IPSE, the UK's only not-for-profit membership organisation representing the self-employed, is seeking a part-time IT Support Engineer to join the technology team and support the day-to-day running of our internal systems and infrastructure. This is a hands-on role, providing day-to-day support, troubleshooting, and assisting with system updates, security checks, and data integrity. This role reports to the Information Technology Manager. It is ideal for someone early in their IT career or returning to work, who is keen to build practical skills in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure and Systems Administration
- Assist with the administration and support of Microsoft 365 services
- Manage user accounts, licenses, and MFA using Azure AD / Entra ID
- Support onboarding/offboarding, device setup, and endpoint compliance
- Assist with regular audits and reviews of access permissions and group policies
- Systems and Data Support
- Support our Dynamics 365 CRM environment - maintaining data quality, user access, and integrations
- Run ad hoc data extracts and contribute to reporting projects
- Assist with testing and documenting changes to fields, forms, or workflows
- Work with internal teams and external partners to troubleshoot system-related issues
- Security and Compliance
- Monitor antivirus, update compliance, and endpoint protection
- Support compliance checks (e.g. GDPR, retention schedules, backups)
- Help maintain business continuity documentation and support disaster recovery readiness
- Support implementation of best practices aligned to Cyber Essentials/ISO Standards
Required Skills and Experience
- Relevant IT certification (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Fundamentals such as AZ-900, MS-900, or SC-900) or an undergraduate degree in IT, Computer Science, or related discipline. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Experienced using Microsoft Dynamics 365 (model-driven apps, forms, fields, permissions) and Microsoft cloud services.
- Familiarity with license management processes and Microsoft Admin Center configuration
- Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and user support in a hybrid or remote environment
- Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and management tools
Desirable
- Sound understanding of GDPR, data protection practices, or standards such as ISO/Cyber Essentials
- Passion in automation or data tools such as Power Platform (Power Automate, Power BI)
- Experience liaising with external IT vendors or support providers
