Company Description

IPSE is the UK's only not-for-profit association dedicated to representing and supporting the self-employed. For over 25 years, we have placed value before profit, offering a unique blend of resources, benefits, advocacy and a community-led approach. We lead with expertise, campaign with authority, and celebrate success – making a genuine difference to the lives of the self-employed. Our goal is to be an extension of our members' businesses, always accessible and always championing the self-employed.

Role Description

In this role you will proactively identify, engage, and convert prospective members into IPSE membership through outbound sales activity, including cold calling and structured, multi‑touch follow‑up of cold leads to drive membership growth. This is a hands‑on sales role focused on building a pipeline from scratch, prospecting at volume, warming and nurturing leads over multiple interactions, accurately tracking and qualifying prospects, and closing new business.

In this role you will…

  • Build and manage your own sales pipeline from scratch, identifying and engaging self-employed individuals who may not yet know about IPSE
  • Proactively hunt and convert self-employed individuals into IPSE membership
  • Carry out regular outbound calling, including cold calls to prospects who are not actively seeking membership
  • Work with cold and lightly warmed leads, including leads sourced from social channels and marketing activity
  • Achieve and exceed individual growth and revenue targets
  • Clearly and accurately promote the benefits and value of IPSE membership
  • Confidently handle objections and close new business over the phone
  • Record all sales activity accurately within the CRM system (Microsoft Dynamics)
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support wider brand awareness and lead‑generation activity

What we're looking for…

  • Proven experience in business development, outbound sales, cold calling
  • Demonstrable experience of cold calling and building a pipeline from scratch
  • A track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
  • Confident and persuasive communicator (verbal and written)
  • Pro‑active, resilient, and comfortable handling rejection
  • Numbers‑driven and self‑motivated
