Part of the Culina Group, IPS is the UK market leader in Contract Packing solutions. IPS provides the most extensive pool of Contract Packing equipment and expertise available in the UK. IPS continues to grow and is now widely integrated and embedded within operations right across the Culina Group network.
As a Shift Controller for IPS, you will be responsible for the management of production lines and labour to meet planned volume and commercial targets in accordance with QA and safety standards. To be a role model for best practice at all times, and provide support to Line Leaders where appropriate:
- Rotational shifts: 6am-2pm; 2pm-10pm; 10pm-6am.
- To effectively motivate a team of people to meet production targets.
- Ensure the final product meets client specifications (SPI).
- To effectively maximise production efficiency to ensure plan is met on an hourly/daily basis.
- Effectively use the integrated management systems.
- To adhere to and promote best practice in accordance with company health, safety and quality regulations.
- To ensure all paperwork and systems are completed and accurate in accordance with company procedures.
- To ensure that all areas comply with hygienic audits, both internal and external.
- To ensure GMP (good manufacturing practices) and housekeeping (clean as you go) are strictly adhered to.
- Assist in the development of a skills matrix for all production workers.
- To attend Line leader meetings, and relevant training courses, as and when required.
- To assist in the identification and development of Line Leaders to promote success planning.
- To assist in the training and development of new starters.
- To act as a role model for best practice.
- Monitor, control and minimise waste.
- Play an active part in continuous improvement.
- To conduct RTW’s for line workers.
- To participate in the company’s PDP program.
- To conduct disciplinary investigations in accordance with company procedure.
- To act as specialist for machinery knowledge.
- Drive own personal development through training and work based experience.
- Manage the output of assigned production and effectively deal with issues as and when they arise.
- Cover for the Area Manager in his/her absence.
- Liaise with customers and clients as and when required.
- Must be prepared to cover a variety of shifts to represent the management team.
- To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time, that reasonably fall within the scope and grade of the post.
Qualifications:
- Experience of working in a customer-led environment with changing priorities.
- Experience of manufacturing machinery and processes.
- H&S L2 Qualification.
- NVQ L2 in Team Leading of Packing Operations.
- Ability to communicate in a positive and clear manner.
- Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work to strict deadlines.
- Recognises and promotes the importance of continuous improvement.
- Able to work towards targets.
