Job Description
Reporting to the Operations Director, the Regional Contract Packing Engineering Manager will manage, develop and lead the engineering team to effectively deliver operationally excellent regional facilities in line with the business requirements. Must have a dynamic and flexible approach to Engineering. This role will be based in Dudley with some travel. This position covers a region of 6 sites (Dudley, Minworth, Telford, Stafford, Bristol and Banbury).
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hour week.
Key Duties of a Regional Contract Packing Engineering Manager:
- Ensure Risk assessments and method statements are compliant with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and company procedures e.g. contractor control, isolation and lock off.
- Devise, compile & implement maintenance procedures, engineering standards / specifications as required for all equipment throughout the region.
- Co-ordinate the activities of the maintenance team, reacting to regional requirements, providing clear, concise direction and counselling to the team to maximise employee contribution e.g. Continuous Improvement and ensure delivery of the maintenance plan as agreed with the Site Managers.
- Working closely with the Site Manager take responsibility for the management of the site’s maintenance budget.
- Review Engineering competency and ensure appropriate training and development plans are set and implemented to meet both the individual and the business needs.
- Drive the development and utilisation of the company’s CMMS and validate the data integrity to cause and effect analysis level e.g. PPM plans are robust and appropriate.
- Own the OEE loss reduction programme for the engineering related categories, using appropriate tools, techniques and resources e.g. RCAs.
- Participate in capital projects ensuring that relevant PM plans and engineering standards are embedded into the engineering ways of working for new plant and machinery.
- Responsible for the management and review of allocated outsourced contracts.
- Responsible for own and team’s development and to carry out objective setting, performance appraisals and development planning – moving towards a self-management culture.
- Mentor the sites production managers on engineering related issues to validate interventions and decision-making capability on technical issues.
- Ownership of Apprenticeship program on site.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience of engineering (projects and maintenance) within a food production environment.
- Experience of leading, motivating and managing a team.
- Continuous improvement experience, tools and techniques / Change Management.
- Degree (or equivalent) qualified in a related engineering discipline.
- IOSH.
- Project Management.
- Ability to work in a high pressurised environment with tight deadlines.
