We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team at Featherstone on a 6 month fixed term basis. You will manage, develop and lead the site engineering team to effectively deliver an operationally excellent factory in line with the business requirements. You must be driven, have a can-do attitude and a willingness to mentor, grow and develop the members of your team.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30-17.00 with a degree of flexibility.

Key Duties of an Engineering Manager:

  • Ensure Risk assessments and method statements are compliant with all relevant Health & Safety legislation and company procedures e.g. contractor control, isolation and lock off.
  • Devise, compile & implement maintenance procedures, engineering standards / specifications as required.
  • Co-ordinate the activities of the maintenance team, providing clear, concise direction and counselling to the team to maximise employee contribution e.g. Continuous Improvement and ensure delivery of the maintenance plan as agreed with the General Manager.
  • Responsible for the management of the sites maintenance budget.
  • Review Engineering competency and ensure appropriate training and development plans are set and implemented to meet both the individual and the business needs.
  • Drive the development and utilisation of the company’s CMMS and validate its data integrity to cause and effect analysis level e.g. PPM plans are robust and appropriate.
  • Own the OEE loss reduction programme for the engineering related categories, using appropriate tools, techniques and resources e.g. RCAs.
  • Participate in capital projects ensuring that relevant PM plans and engineering standards are embedded into the engineering ways of working for new plant and machinery.
  • Responsible for the management and review of allocated outsourced contracts.
  • Responsible for own and team’s development and to carry out objective setting, performance appraisals and development planning – moving towards a self-management culture.
  • Mentor the sites production managers on engineering related issues to validate interventions and decision making capability on technical issues.

Qualifications:

  • To be successful in this role you must have a previous manufacturing and production experience.
  • Knowledge in Continuous Improvement would be beneficial to help you thrive in this position.
  • Experience of working successfully within a FMCG Manufacturing environment.
  • TPM methodology awareness.
  • Working knowledge of RCM/RCA.
  • IOSH.
  • NVQ Level 3 Management (Desirable).
  • At least five years’ experience of engineering (projects and maintenance) within a food production environment.
  • Continuous improvement experience, tools and techniques.
