IPS Group is working with a fast‑growing, tech‑led motor insurer to recruit a senior hire into their Claims function. This is a key appointment at an exciting stage of growth, as the business continues to expand in the UK and further develop its in‑house claims capability.
The Role
This is a senior technical leadership role with a strong emphasis on handling and driving strategy across complex motor claims, alongside playing a key role in ongoing transformation. You will act as the technical lead across the full motor claims lifecycle, bringing deep expertise across FNOL, AD, credit hire, personal injury, and complex/catastrophic losses. The position will involve both hands‑on involvement in complex and high‑value claims as well as providing technical direction, oversight, and leadership to the wider team. A key part of the role will be to strengthen technical capability within the business, taking ownership of complex and large loss claims, supporting on escalations, and ensuring robust indemnity and reserving decisions across the portfolio. You will play a critical role in shaping claims strategy and driving performance improvement. Alongside the technical focus, you will also support the ongoing claims transformation agenda, working closely with the Head of Claims to continue the transition from outsourced to in‑house capability. This includes contributing to the design of processes, operating model improvements, and working with product and engineering teams to embed claims capability within their in‑house platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as technical lead for complex motor claims, including large loss and catastrophic injury
- Provide oversight across the end‑to‑end claims journey (FNOL through to settlement)
- Handle and support high‑value and technically challenging cases, particularly across credit hire and personal injury
- Drive technical standards, best practice, and consistency across the claims function
- Support with indemnity spend, reserving strategy, and overall claims performance
- Play a key role in developing and mentoring the team as the function grows
- Contribute to the ongoing claims transformation programme, including bringing more capability in‑house
Required Experience
- Strong background in UK motor claims with deep technical expertise
- Proven experience handling complex claims, including bodily injury and large loss
- Strong knowledge of credit hire, litigation, and the end‑to‑end claims process
- Experience operating in a technical lead or senior referral role
- Ability to balance hands‑on technical work with broader strategic input
- Prior exposure to change, transformation, or building capability in‑house is advantageous
