Training course: Mechatronics maintenance technician (level 3)

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm; 40 hours a week

Start date: Tuesday 1 September 2026

Duration: 3 years 6 months

Work: Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you’ll do at work:

  • Year 1: Learning the Foundations. In your first year, most of your time will be spent at IPS International in Rochester, Kent, where you’ll live and train on a residential basis. From Year 2 onwards, your apprenticeship becomes even more varied. You’ll split your time between on-site learning and residential training – spending up to nine weeks a year away from home at national training centres or visiting equipment and robotics suppliers. These weeks give you the chance to work with cutting-edge technology and learn directly from industry experts. Don’t worry – all travel and accommodation costs are covered.
  • On-site, a typical day could involve: Shadowing experienced engineers, helping to maintain and repair machinery, responding to breakdowns, or taking part in improvement projects. Working across different UK manufacturing sites, giving you a broad understanding of the equipment you’ll be responsible for and how large-scale production environments operate.

Where you’ll work: Warnham Works, Langhurstwood Road, HORSHAM, RH12 4QD

Training: Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Requirements:

  • GCSE in English, Maths and Science (grade 4 and above)
  • Accommodation near our training facility will be provided and due to provider requirements, candidates must be aged 18 or over by August 2026 due to insurance reasons.
  • Enrolment onto your apprenticeship programme is subject to prior attainment checks, and your Personal Learning Record will be reviewed upon successful appointment.
  • We are also obligated to follow the guidelines around eligibility, set out by the government apprenticeship funding rules.
