Job Description
At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a dedicatedProject Accountant to join our talented team on a fixed-term contract at our EMEA office located in Birmingham, UK.
In this role, you will be responsible for all project accounting functions, including invoicing, project setup, budget revisions, cost transfers, etc., for all EMEA entities. You will also support other related accounting functions, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Rate Administration. Additionally, you will work closely with Project Managers, Director of Projects, and Finance Manager to support our growing EMEA financial operations.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and submit monthly invoices in an accurate and timely fashion with all required backup documentation.
- Work with Project Managers to obtain proper approval before submitting invoices to clients.
- Set up new projects, perform budget revisions, and enter cost transfers into the accounting system as required.
- Ensure each project has proper billing rates set up.
- Calculate and post construction management fees and other direct cost entries.
- Issue cost reports to Project Managers weekly or as requested.
- Enter project-related Accounts Payable as required.
- Manage Accounts Receivable, following up on customer payments as needed.
- Work with different currencies.
- Projects or tasks as assigned by the EMEA Finance Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Significant relevant work experience.
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with a working knowledge of accounting principles.
- Part Qualified Accountant (AAT, CIMA, ACCA, etc.) advantageous.
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
- Highly reliable with strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a large amount of documents and information.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with both internal and external contacts.
- Expertise with Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Hands-on working knowledge of one or more project cost accounting system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering or Construction sector experience.
- Experience working in Multi-Currency.
- Experience in supporting European operations.
