Job Description

We are looking for a talented Construction Manager to join our team at our office located in Birmingham, UK
.
The Construction Manager will lead construction site activities in the cleanroom environment, manage all field operations, and take primary responsibility for site safety.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assumes primary responsibility for all activities on assigned construction sites.
- Leads field personnel to meet project goals. Assumes primary responsibility for site safety, and above all other objectives, ensures achievement of safety objectives on assigned projects.
- Ensures achievement of corporate goals for assigned projects.
- Ensures projects meet applicable quality requirements.
- Manages client interactions at the site on assigned projects and promotes positive relationships.
- Develops working knowledge of prime contract requirements and applies knowledge to project activities.
- Supports the Project Manager in the development and maintenance of preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans.
- Supports the Project Manager in the development and maintenance of project schedules, including targeted and actual activity lists, durations, and sequencing logic, and communicates this information to the project team.
- Develops a working knowledge of the project budget, and identifies exceptions to the project budget throughout the execution of the project.
- Supports the Project Manager in monitoring and reporting project costs.
- Supports the Project Manager in the development of change control documentation and related financial documentation. Vigorously protects corporate positions.
- Develops a thorough understanding of contractually required quality in design and construction, and oversees the work of subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Participates in constructability reviews of design documents.
- Supports Project Manager in the procurement and coordination of all required extracorporate project resources. Writes scopes of work and assists in evaluation of bids and proposals. Works with Project Manager to conduct pre-bid walk-through and descope meetings. Works with Project Manager to select subcontractors and vendors.
- Supports the Project Manager in the evaluation of vendor and subcontractor invoices. Receives monthly invoices, evaluates requests for payment against actual performance, negotiates payments with subcontractors and coordinates payments with subcontractors.
- Manages subcontractor and vendor change requests.
- Facilitates communication between subcontractors, vendors and project personnel, and produces documentation of communication between project participants. Leads and coordinates the RFI process.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline or an equivalent technical degree.
- Previous cleanroom experience is a necessity
- Extensive experience in a Construction Management role.
- Must have previous Pharmaceutical, BioPharmaceutical or Life Science construction management experience.
