To support our exciting Connect to Work programme, we are recruiting a Senior Employment Specialist to join our friendly team.

This post will be covering Blackpool with travel involved.

You will manage a team of Employment Specialists and work face-to-face with clients (managing a 50% caseload) who have long term health conditions and/or barriers to employment, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences.

You will deliver the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach, for which training will be given; providing person centred advice and guidance, whilst building positive relationships with local employers to enable clients to move into suitable employment.

You will work with colleagues in clinical/local agency teams, developing positive and integrated relationships, providing a holistic approach to recovery through employment.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise and develop a team of IPS Employment Specialists, providing coaching, training and performance management to support high-quality service delivery.
  • Maintain a personal caseload, supporting people with mental health challenges to secure and sustain paid employment through the IPS model.
  • Ensure the service operates in line with IPS fidelity principles and delivers positive outcomes for clients.
  • Identify learning and development needs within the team and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with employers, community partners and mental health teams to create employment opportunities for clients.
  • Produce reports for internal stakeholders and commissioners, monitoring performance and service quality.
  • Lead on service promotion, communications and the sharing of positive employment recovery stories.

  • The person
  • Significant experience supporting people with mental health needs, disabilities or other barriers to employment.
  • Experience within employment support, supported employment or vocational rehabilitation services.
  • Previous experience supervising, managing or mentoring staff.
  • Understanding of the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model and recovery-focused practice.
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience achieving performance targets and driving service improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employers, health professionals and other stakeholders.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance (or equivalent experience) and a full driving licence.
  • Experience of delivering IPS services within mental health settings.
  • Supervisory or management qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, welfare benefits and disability-related support.
  • IPS training and/or lived experience of recovery from mental health difficulties.
