Job overview

IPS Grow is seeking an experienced IPS leader with a background at Team Leader, Senior Employment Specialist or Service Manager level to support the expansion of Individual Placement and Support services across health systems. Working with regional and national stakeholders, the post holder will help services translate evidence into practice, improve quality and performance, and achieve stronger employment outcomes for clients. The role combines leadership, quality assurance, mentoring, stakeholder engagement and service development, with a mix of remote and on-site working across London.

Role

The IPS Grow Regional Lead will provide expert leadership and technical support to IPS services, helping teams strengthen fidelity to the IPS model and improve performance. The role involves mentoring leaders and practitioners, conducting fidelity reviews, facilitating learning networks, supporting strategic stakeholders and driving service improvement initiatives. The post holder will act as a key ambassador for IPS, working across systems to raise awareness, influence practice and support sustainable service growth.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular in-person and virtual visits to IPS services, supporting the delivery of high-fidelity IPS practice.
  • Work alongside IPS teams to model best practice, develop staff skills and support problem-solving.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve organisational practices and overcome barriers to IPS delivery.
  • Mentor IPS Team Leaders in staff supervision, employer engagement, race equity, client-centred practice and performance management.
  • Support services to increase awareness and engagement with IPS amongst system leaders and stakeholders.
  • Develop training materials and resources that strengthen technical support and workforce capability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with IPS services, commissioners and key stakeholders.
  • Lead performance and quality improvement discussions with services and partners.
  • Support workforce planning and outcome forecasting to ensure resources align with service requirements and targets.
  • Benchmark service performance and identify opportunities for improvement with stakeholders and system leaders.
  • Work closely with NHS England, OHID and DWP to provide integrated support to IPS services.
  • Improve data quality and promote effective use of the IPS Grow Reporting Tool.
  • Produce reports, briefings and case studies demonstrating service impact.
  • Lead IPS fidelity reviews, support self-assessments and develop action plans for service improvement.
  • Monitor fidelity and race equity action plans to ensure measurable progress.
  • Create opportunities for peer learning and collaboration between services.
  • Facilitate learning networks, communities of practice, webinars and workshops.

The person

  • Significant IPS leadership experience at Team Leader, Senior Employment Specialist or Service Manager level.
  • Experience managing relationships with operational and strategic stakeholders in fast-paced environments.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the IPS model, evidence base and practical application.
  • Ability to confidently communicate the benefits and impact of IPS to a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of improving IPS performance outcomes through effective leadership and performance management.
  • Strong understanding of implementation challenges and strategies to improve service delivery.
  • Experience leading service improvement and change management initiatives.
  • Excellent strategic planning, organisation and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based employment support and fidelity to the IPS model.
  • Passion for promoting race equity and reducing inequalities in service delivery.
  • Structured and creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in complex and evolving environments.
  • High levels of integrity, empathy and commitment to social impact.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
