SkillsHouse are currently recruiting for Employment Specialist Advisers to support the delivery of the Connect to Work model across Bradford District. This is an opportunity to work within a purpose-driven organisation helping individuals with health conditions or barriers to secure meaningful employment and sustainable jobs.
As an Employment Specialist Adviser you will manage a small caseload, delivering one-to-one support to help prepare clients for, enter, and sustain employment. You will work within a Primary Care Network (PCN) environment and in the community—supporting participants through all stages of their employment journey, including engagement, vocational profiling, job search, placement, and in-work support.
You will build strong relationships with clients, health professionals, community stakeholders and employers to deliver a tailored and person-centred service that promotes social inclusion, well being, and independence through work. At least 60% of your time will be spent in the community, meeting participants in settings comfortable to them, and building relationships with employers and referral organisations. You will work both independently and as part of a team to help secure paid employment for at least 50% of participants.
Main Responsibilities:
- Providing impactful, timely and individualised support to clients
- Ensuring contractual targets and KPIs are met
- Collaborative working with internal and external stakeholders
- Representing SkillsHouse in localities across the district
An enhanced disclosure check with the Disclosure and Barring Service will be undertaken for this post.
The person:
- Ability to express yourself fluently and spontaneously in English (Advanced Fluency Duty requirement).
- Understanding of barriers to work and training faced by local residents, and ability to work with partners to increase employability.
- Good experience working in a related field connecting jobseekers with health‑related barriers to employment, or working with economically inactive participants.
- Experience managing and updating Client Management / Management Information systems to support service delivery and performance management.
Essential Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3/4 in Advice and Guidance (Band 8 requirement).
Desirable Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 6 in Advice & Guidance, DipCG or degree (SO1 level).
- Teaching qualification (advantageous for progression to SO1).
