Fantastic opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join a firm of Chartered Accountants in Newcastle. This firm offers a range of services to their clients, enabling you to keep your work varied and interested. You will have the opportunity to progress within the firm and look at your own portfolio of clients.
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Preparation of accounts from a variety of clients\’ systems – Sage, Xero, QuickBooks etc.
- Preparation of corporation tax computations
- Actioning queries raised by accounts and tax managers on the accounts and working papers prepared
- Finalisation of the accounts following client meetings
- Acting as a point of contact for clients for ad hoc queries
- Preparation of management accounts and VAT returns
- Supervise, train and mentor more junior members of staff
To qualify for this Senior Accountant position, ideally you should meet the following:
- Be ACA/ACCA/AAT qualified or be qualified by experience
- Ideally have a minimum of 4 years\’ experience, having worked as a Senior Accountant in Practice.
- Have a strong technical knowledge and be up to date with current legislation
- Have experience of preparation of year end accounts for owner‑managed small to medium businesses including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Be driven and proactive, ensuring that our commitment to providing excellent service levels to our clients is met
- Knowledge of accounting software packages such as Sage, QuickBooks and Xero would be advantageous
