IPS Group are working closely with a specialist global insurer to appoint a Senior Development Underwriter as part of their expanding Technology Underwriting team. This role will play a key part in developing and growing a technology-focused portfolio, working closely with brokers to deliver profitable, sustainable business.
The role is well suited to either an experienced Technology Underwriter, or an underwriter from Cyber, Property & Casualty or Professional Indemnity looking to specialise in technology risks. You will be involved in new business development, underwriting moderate to complex risks, and negotiating terms while maintaining strong broker relationships.
The position can be based in Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds, with broker relationships primarily across the Midlands and the North. Regular broker engagement is essential, including meetings and market-facing activity.
You will manage the full underwriting lifecycle from submission through to bind, driving conversion rates and portfolio performance. This includes proactive portfolio management, underwriting MTAs, leading underwriting reviews, identifying cross-sell opportunities, and contributing to product and portfolio initiatives.
You will balance growth, retention and profitability across your book of business and support wider sales and renewal activity. As a senior underwriter, you will also provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support overall business objectives.
