This is a hands-on role combining day-to-day financial management with strategic input and would suit a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) looking to step into a No.1 finance role within a dynamic SME environment.
Key responsibilities include
- Overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, month-end close, and statutory compliance.
- Ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Leading and developing a small accounts team.
- Managing credit risk, credit insurance and banking relationships.
- Preparing management accounts and presenting financial insights to support decision-making.
- Conducting internal audits and coordinating external audits.
- Supporting systems improvement and process efficiency projects.
- Collaborating with non-finance teams to improve financial understanding across the business.
Candidate profile
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 1–3 years PQE.
- Strong Excel and modelling skills.
- Confident communicator able to partner effectively with senior stakeholders.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or product-based environment
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, SME setting
- Proven ability to lead and develop a small finance team
