We are working with a successful and fast-paced food manufacturing business in South Kirkby who are looking to appoint a part qualified costings accountant to support their Finance Controller. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid finance experience who enjoys being close to operations and having a direct impact on cost control and performance.
What you'll be doing:
- This is a hands-on role where you'll be key to helping the business understand its operational performance and improve profitability.
- Calculating daily operational variances including yields.
- Reporting on costs across labour including variances to standard.
- Liaising with Payroll to ensure accurate daily cost capture.
- Highlighting and actioning yield performance with operations.
- Ensuring yield improvement actions are implemented and shared across teams.
- Updating system changes (e.g. cost specs, BOMs, reports, maintenance systems).
- Ensuring new products are set up correctly to measure key direct costs.
- Identifying and supporting areas for profit improvement.
- Stock reconciliation across multiple areas including third-party providers.
- Ensuring accurate costs and yields in product costings and tenders.
- Providing holiday/absence cover and supporting other finance duties as required.
What we're looking for:
- Experience in a finance or management accounting role, ideally within manufacturing or FMCG.
- Part-qualified CIMA or AAT qualified would be advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with large datasets and systems.
